The Mastery of Aging Well: A Program for Healthy Living

A five-part video series produced by Oregon State University in partnership with AARP, will be presented this spring at Elders in Action. Space is limited, and reservations are required. Elders in Action asks for a $5 suggested donation for each session.

Elders in Action volunteers will lead the five-week course Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon starting April 19, 2011 at Elders in Action's office, 1411 S.W. Morrison St., Suite 290.  Light refreshments will be served.  Space is limited, and reservations are required.  Elders in Action asks for a $5 suggested donation for each session.

The following class sessions are scheduled:

  • April 19, 2011: "Memory Difficulties: Should I Be Worried?" - How memory works and why it sometimes doesn't, with special focus on improving memory and recall.
  • April 26, 2011: "Depression in Later Life" - An overview of depression, with information on what predisposes aging adults to the risk of depression.
  • May 3, 2011: "Medication Jeopardy" -The risks attached to taking medications and how age influences risk.
  • May 10, 2011: "Food As Medicine?" - A provocative presentation about eating and aging, with a review of nutritional recommendations for the aging adult.
  • May 17, 2011: "Physical Activity and Exercise" - How exercise/activity programs can help aging adults stay independent and physically able.
